A quote from Simon Hoggart , Guardian columnist (among other things), in the Guardian, Saturday 19 June 2010, just after Ascot, commenting on race-goers gathered at Waterloo Station:
“You see a mini-dress……. and on top of it a fascinator. Memo to really classy women: wear a proper hat, and don’t clip something on to your head that makes you look like a moulting macaw”.
Simon, I salute you! Probably stated a little more strongly than H’Atelier would have done, and I’m not against f*********s per se, but ladies, they really should be a well-designed fashion statement, and never, ever an apologetic afterthought. (End of lecture)
