We were delighted to throw open H’atelier’s doors to the lovely MELISSA WALTON, former Hollyoak’s star, in her quest for the perfect Ascot hat. She would, it’s true to say, look stunning in a binbag, but I think you’ll agree the H’atelier hats add a certain je ne sais quoi.

Gemma is a very special lady whose friend Fiona thought she deserved a Very Special Birthday treat…..
so we were delighted when H’atelier was chosen as the start for the evening’s festivities. All it needed was the Birthday Girl, her Mum and sister, best friend Fiona, a bottle (or three) of bubbly and loads of lovely H’atelier hats, and hey presto! a great start to a great evening…..

WELL, TO BE STRICTLY HONEST, NOT US IN PERSON…..
but we feel very honoured to have been asked by Jane Davies OBE to make a hat for her presentation at Buckingham Palace. Our warmest congratulations to Jane , and I’m sure you’ll agree she looks fantastic:

Yes, it’s true. And no, it’s not Paloma Faith or Lady GaGa.
The star in question was the late great Sarah Bernhardt, who appeared in the title role – to much critical acclaim -of the American version of a French play written by Victorien Sardou in 1882. She was a sensation, not only because of her perfectly modulated diction and general physical allure, but also because of a hat she wore as part of her stage costume.
No-one remembers the play any more, but its legacy lives on.
The name of this play? ”FEDORA” !

New Season’s designs well on the way
For Spring/Summer 2011 we’re inspired by:
- the Seventies (ah, those were the days….) – especially my personal hero Marc Jacobs;
- ethereal neutral tones
- the allure of the Orient
- the crisp fluidity of pleats – feminine and sculptural at the same time
- sweet, fresh florals
- bold, brash, look-at-me colour
- and (believe it or not) SEEDS AND SEEDPODS
Who could not be influenced by nature’s own astonishing creativity……..

Had great fun making this special for the cover of Manchester Live, once again styled and photographed by the brilliant Ava Creatives team, Aga and Alicia. I was given a bag of assorted Christmas baubles and left to my own devices…. actually looks rather good, don’t you think?
